The young teenage boys dashed across the street as the car alarm went off, beeping in the night. They walked down the alley, laughing as they stepped into the darkness. They leaned against the walls breathing hard. The apartment light above them flicked on, lighting up the dark alley. Though the boys ignored it, their prank had been pulled and they were ready to head back to their own apartment. Their prank had been mild compared to most of their nasty jokes. The window above opened. The boys looked up and smiled, their laughing echoing through the alley noisily. A young girl peered out the window. The boys looked up, locking eyes with the girl. The girl rolled her eyes then closed the window and flicked off the light.
WELCOME TO THE CITY. The place where the crime rates are high and the buildings fall down before your eyes and graffiti appears overnight. The places were houses fail to serve as houses and shops sell nothing of importance. Where the school systems needs work and the roads need to be repaved. Where gangs claim alleyways and the streets, and everyone knows. The only sources of entertainment are street hockey and backyard football [if you are lucky to have a backyard, if not then a front yard or the street will do], and of course, pulling devilish pranks and causing chaos. And there is also that simple broken down theater. And guess what? YOU LIVE HERE.
