No New Posts STARPORT [WELCOME TO TOWN]

The Starport is a giant runaway, dotted with brightly lit skyscrapers, and flourescent covered workers. Ships are constantly circling overhead, and come in all shapes.

Past the runway is a giant bubble, which is filled to the brim with relatives. The window offers a beautiful view of the night sky.

Uncomfortable plastic chairs line the bubble in a crescent, and are there for those who await relatives.

A small coffee-stand lies in the corner, and the backwall is dominated by the customs department.

A luggage rack, lines the center of the building. Unlike airports; not many items are lost thanks to advanced tracking methods.

No New Posts Police Precinct 517

It speaks of quaint antiquity--at least it does when compared to any other locales. Built out of crumbling red-brick, this large hut-shaped building, is crammed on a corner between a sky-rise, and the Touchdown library. A navy blue roof --made of interlocking steel plates--is rounded on the top, the shingles overhanging in uneven rows. A simple pair of automatic doors opens into a spacious lobby. The feeling of antiquity fades there. Instead of anxious constables you find a gleaming palace of crime fighting technology, and an army’s efficiency. Androids bustle about with piles of paperwork, blending in with the people around them. Stainless steel desks litter the lobby--transparent wafers of light constantly running information. A single woman bustles around the lab with a small laptop--taking data. A gold-leaf star is inlaid in the marble floor, bearing some latin words, and the name of the station.

Now you might expect the cells to be cramped, or find the place like a dungeon. Instead the prisoners seem to be treated rather well. The cells spread out in a fan shape in the backroom. Each easily the size of the main lobby, The floor is clean, the cots well padded. A security android brings them home-cooked [or robot-cooked] meals, and steaming cups of coffee. It is almost better then being in a cheap hotel--except for the bars.

The prisoners found here are usually alien in nature--or very minor offenders. The major offenders are immediately escorted to a larger prison far from the “perfect” city of Touchdown. The aliens? They must wait for a ride home to be tried--no matter how small the crime.

Prisoners only face trials at home--unless the crime was committed against an earthling, or earthling building.

No New Posts Starport General Hospital

A large, hunkering, rectangle of anti-bacterial glass and plastic. The hospital sits quite near the starport, and the highest rooms can even glimpse ships running off the runway.

Stories upon stories of rooms stretch into the night. Robots and doctors intermingle to perform surgeries and assist all who enter.

The lobby is pure marble with the back wall having many bright colored murals for all species of alien. A simple desk of steel sits in the center, where a pair of nurses sit behind a pair of arm-like recording robots.

The ceiling is peppered with cone shaped lights, and a waterfall descends in one corner.

A few uncomfortable chair rings the room, which has a jungle like atmosphere, plants everywhere, and people constantly running about.

Elevators lay in one corner, a small cafe in another.

The roof has a helicopter pad, and a few transporters for goods and medical supplies.

No New Posts The Council Office

In this hall all of the intergalactic laws are made. At least those pertaining to arrivals and departures from the city--and criminal conduct. A web of hallways leads out from the greek-temple like facade, high-tech murals cover the ceilings. Each reflecting important moments in each race's history. The truly important place however is the large back room. Inside it is a large mahoghany table, with six lonely chairs. The floor[like the rest of the building] is carpeted in self cleaning plush red carpet. The table is engraved with whirling filligree, six vines eventaully joining to form a large rose in the center, in gold leaf. At each meeting [ they are bi-monthly[] the council members sit down to discuss planetary affairs, and business.

The people seated at this table not only serve as ambassadors but protectors. They handle terrorist threats, and criminals.

Scattered about the town these locales, ugly squat outdated things, help maintain order. Heavy glass windows sit behind large pillars. Workers constantly buzz in and out like worker bees, each going about 'important' business. Fences rope off well maintained landscape from the masses.

What will you find in these intimidating buildings? Hospitals, the council office, schools, police stations, and the library. Each one , though ugly outside, is brimming with the latest technology.

All brought to you by your very own tax dollars.
