The Park

The advent of machines has lead to a lot of progress, as many things as possible are being replaced by machines. Trees are now replaced by much smaller plants, and the rare types by extremely common breeds. You won't find any trees in the city of touchdown, except for in the park. The park is a project made by the 'recessives', men and women who despise technological modern life; and want to go back to farming and hunting. It is one of the only beautiful places in the city. It is a landmark, and it is a very successful tourist attraction; yet the council is always trying to take it down. It causes too much dissension in the general populace.
The park is near the outskirts of town. It's overall design and look is a bulls' eye under a doubled asterisk. The lines are water, the outer and inner circles being lakes of purest mountain water, the rest of the lines being canals. The spaces are the land, the smallest able to hold 20 people easily. The land spaces have a network of stone bridges and paths that connect them all together, allowing patrons to stroll around the various trees. Elegantly carved stone benches are placed at regular intervals to allow rest. It also contains expected wildlife as well; carp, geese, songbirds, squirrel, etc. It is a remnant of older times, and a steady rock in the chaos of the city life.
