People swarmed all around the bright, sparkling fountain. The marble structure rose high into the air, and the aquamarine water gushed much higher then that. A tall slender girl watched the h2o cascade over the complicated design on the fountain. She sat at a cast iron table and leaned on her elbows, chin in her hands. Or she thought it was cast iron. Who knew? Nowadays there were so many synthetic materials around, that one hardly knew what they were using. Rashida rolled her eyes. 'Aren't my thoughts so deep?' The girl thought sarcastically.
She was so bored. She was bored with her job, bored with the people she worked with. Heck, the most interesting thing that had happened to her recently was meeting a Neebu named Aubre a couple of days ago. 'I need a new life. Something that will get me closer to my goal." What exactly that goal was? Good luck getting Shida to tell you. She was rather tight-mouthed when it came to her past - especially her family. For some reason, Rashida never talks about any of her family.
The girl turned her gaze unto the folk that passed. Her long silky hair fell over her sage eyes. With an impatient hand she pushed it back over her shoulder. It was amazing how much humanity had evolved. Why in the beginning, they used to fight among themselves - for silly things, such as skin color. But now they mingled with all sorts of races: Neebu, Vishnu, Choroid, Trasi, Sallon'ds. A warm smile lit her face. Yes. It was amazing.

It was like watching a walking, talking, breathing , very out-of order rainbow stroll down the street. Or more appropriately out of the dressing room. The only thing on him that did not scream with color was the large black fedora perched diagonally between his ears. A neon blue muzzle curled upward in a devilish smirk, and sharp little nails the color of pumpkins gently brushed the edge of the hat. "I may be pretty enough already but this dull little chapel--alright , alright chapeau-- makes me shine. Even more than usual...." Which in itself was a hard job. Needle sharp canines gleamed as the Neebu turned away from the mirror, gave it a final lustful glance, and slowly strolled toward the counter.
--
Long toe-claws scratched at the linoleum, his tail gently caressed various pieces of clothing. A few times it slid around the waists, and lower areas of other customers. Each time he found himself facing a pair of scolding eyes he grinned. "Sorry sorry, darling little thing has a mind of its own~ I really can t control myself." That much was true. After avoiding the angry rebukes of four or five angry spouses the Neebu found himself leaning against the counter, whiskers hovering inches from the nose of the human cashier.
His eyes however were quite a bit lower, and seemed to be holding a conversation with two ill concealed bowls of jello. "...ooh sorry pretty lady~ how much did that come to?" Before the cashier could reply, he swiped his card, and walked out, not before thinking to himself: Pretty sure, a little lopsided, plain, and poor but decent enough. One large foot was now planted outside the door, and with a sound that mixed a bark and a laugh he called sweetly back to the cashier: "Excuse me ~but your friends need some taming!" Now, if he was a woman, no doubt a very big breasted one--he would have to be to replace certain things--he would never let his poor friends bounce around like that, it was almost trampish.
--
On top of his electric blue, and neon orange fur rested an even brighter assortment of fabric. A suit coat made of shining fabric in the gradient of the rainbow, was overlaid by a black satin throw, and the pants beneath them were loose and made of the same opalescent rainbow that he had used to make his shirt.
The fox threw glances at mirrors and windows, admiring himself before moving on to the next. Lost in his own reflection it took him a few moments to notice his translator's ring. "Take call." Instantly the face of a beautiful violet Neebu popped up on the holographic face screen that now wrapped around the Neebu's rather big head. "Lily lily~ hello darling sister~ don't you look smashing? How are you?" "Quite alri--" "Good, good--gllad to hear it. Things have been going great, I'm doing amazing as usual, just bought an amazing stock." Cadmium's voice trailed off, and he found himself turning toward the fountain.
With the swift lope of a predator [not a sexual one, though his stroll was quite self assured], he ran toward the fountain, and slid into a cross-legged position beside Rashida. More appropriately behind her.
--
On the other end of the conversation, his sister rolled his eyes, chuckled, and disappeared from view.
The shimmering screen disappeared as Cadmium allowed a few coins to clatter to the floor. Tail gently brushing against the fountain's edge, he leaned forward to pick them up, tilting his head slightly upward for a rather pretty view.
I don't mean of the fountain.
-
Sitting up, the coins still glittering on the ground, Cadmium grinned at Rashida, even as his tail wrapped around the nearest table leg. "What's a pretty little thing like you doing in the mall alone? All manner of beautiful, roguish gentlemen could wander by." The brim of the hat had fallen low, and now obscured his face.
Hopefully enough so that this young lady didn't scare about meeting a celebrity. She did look like a rather simple country girl, with an overabundance of hair dye.
"Can I sit here? " One for not valuing the opinions of others, Cadmium slid into an open seat next to Rashida, a grin playing on his whiskered maw.
Little darling should be honored, sitting with him!
[Give me a few posts to remember what he's like.]

A rather loud flash of orange and blue commanded Rashida's attention. That is, if a color could possibly be called loud. A very confident Neebu strolled about the mall. Popping in one store browsing for a couple of minutes, and then sauntering back out. Rashida noticed the rather ostentatious markings of orange and yellow that littered his blue fur. She raised an eyebrow. 'This must be the famous ladies' man, Cadmium Ellubis.' She thought, rather sarcastically. 'It's a wonder what any girl could see in him. Although...' her mind flashed back to that conversation she had had with Aubre a few days back, 'Perhaps he would be good for a job. He does have a rather high position after all.'
Closing her eyes, Rashida mentally summoned the Neebu's image back. She managed to conjour the needed replica back. Her memory was so much better then it had been several months ago. She mentally examined the clothing that the Neebu wore. A suit was made of a shimming fabric - rainbow was the color statement here. Over top of that was a black throw. Seemed like a rather subdued color choice for this pretentious fox. Eyes remained shut as she heard the Neebu coasted onto the floor behind her. She heard the metallic ring of coins dropping on the floor. She tried not to grit her teeth as she felt his eyes on her. Out of the corner of her eye she could see his tail wrapping around one table leg.
"What's a pretty little thing like you doing in the mall alone? All manner of beautiful, roguish gentlemen could wander by." "It appears a rogue already has." she replied, purposely leaving out the 'beautiful' part. She opening her eyes in time to see that he had stood, "Can I sit here?" "You don't leave me much choice - do you," She said rather saucily as he slid into the seat. 'Now now, Shida. Let's play nice. He may give you a job.' she reminded herself. "May I help you, Mr. Ellubis?" She asked, as politely as she could without grinding her teeth to dust. She hated his type. They were so pompous, thinking only of themselves. Rashida knew that deep inside of him there was probably a rather reasonable side to him. Too bad he didn't let it out more often.
As for her being intimidated by him? Not on your life. Rashida wasn't easily impressed by those who didn't deserve her awe. She didn't feel lucky to sit in his presence, and she most certainly did not feel like sharing a pleasant conversation with him. Luckily, Rashida had perfected the art of hiding oneself's emotions. So there would be no possible way for Cadmium to realize how unhappy she was to be in his 'royal and prestigious' presence.

Cadmium smiled at the girl, a single arm lifted, and claws unfurled. The long tapered muzzle now balanced on his open palms, and his bright eyes calmly observed Rashida. Intelligence flashed through his eyes as he began to speak, his tone silky and honey drizzled "..Why how couldn't he? Look at that hair, and that...figure....." Oddly enough, his eyes actually remained on her face, for approximately two seconds. When she spoke again, they began to wander about the room. That lady near the trashcan needed to diet, or at least change her pants. The mother currently walking by truly needed to see a doctor about her nose, and the man watching her across the room needed to be less obvious, where were his equals in this joint? "Thanks." It was obvious the Neebu had not heard , or pretended not to have heard, when Rashida scolded him for taking her seat. The former politician currently looked like a bored child, his ears twitched under his hat, spinning it like a slow moving top.
"AH! So the adorable little darling knows my name? Absolutely marvelous!" The Neebu grinned, and leaned forward needle-like teeth shone in his muzzle as he attempted to grab the girl's hand from across the table. "Help? You? Me? What exactly can you do, besides turn heads of course...." The fox then blinked, and slowly removed the hat from atop his head. It was so hard being a celebrity! You could never have a moment's peace without someone asking for autographs, or levying for some kind of bill to be passed. It was rather annoying really, people loving you was just fine, but to bother you when you were trying to get actual work done? It was downright hell sometimes.
"So Miss~ you know my name, may I have the pleasure of knowing yours?"
Underneath the table his serpentine tail was slowly coiling about, it matched the twitching hand curled about his forearm. Underneath the outline of his knife tugged at him. People knowing his name, and knowing exactly what person to place to attract him was really beginning to creep him out.
The idiotic smile remained on his muzzle, but underneath his entire body was one of tension and constant thoughts of escape.
[Disgusting..xD I really don't know what to have him do.........poor guy. I am not doing him any justice.]

Slender girl raised an eyebrow at Cadmium. Did he honestly think he was that special? Well, he still might be good for a job. Why not humor him? Her lips slowly curved up into a smile as he spoke. It wasn't that hard to pretend to be enchanted by his words. "..Why how couldn't he? Look at that hair, and that...figure....." Rashida hide her shock as he actually kept his eyes on her face. Of course, the tall girl really didn't think she was much to look at. She actually disliked her body and considered herself ugly. Her green eyes remained slightly hidden beneath her bangs as his eyes began to wander. Again, she was surprised as his eyes moved not towards her body - but around the mall. Naturally, she glanced about as well
It seemed like there was nothing extremely notable about the mall. There was still the normal hustle and bustle of a shopping place. All she saw was a few women and a man that was watching Rashida in a rather blatant way. Rashida averted her eyes with an uncomfortable look. A light angry blush dusted her cheeks. Who knew what that man was thinking? The slender girl now felt rather glad for Cadmium's company. At least with the fox-Neebu she wouldn't have to worry about being mugged, or worse. With a small cough, she returned her gaze to Cadmium just as he spoke again. "Thanks." It was obvious he meant to say thanks for her letting him sit down. Of course, Rashida hadn't exactly wanted his presence then, but now she felt as though she needed it. Nevermind that this was a public place with many people around - one never knew when they would find them self alone. Around Cadmium, Shida had the feeling that he would never leave her alone.
With another small cough to clear her throat, Rashida spoke, her voice soft, "Certainly Mr. Ellubis." The girl's hand found it's way to her naturally colored hair to twirl a piece. As of now, she wasn't sure what to say. What did one say to ask for a job? She gazed at the Neebu, noticing he already seemed bored of her presence. Meh. Honestly, what more had Rashida expected? It wasn't as if she was the most fascinating person in the world. No, far from it. She tended to be dry and too mature for her age. So absorbed she was in her own thoughts, Rashida startled as Cadmium spoke, "AH! So the adorable little darling knows my name? Absolutely marvelous!" With a charming little smile, Rashida responded, "Of course. Everyone knows who the famous Cadmium Ellubis is."
Neat rows of teeth flashed and eyes sparkled in the light that reflected off of the water fountain's liquid. 'Maybe I can pull this off.' Rashida thought as she caught her reflection in the pooled water. She pulled her gaze away from the bubbling water to look back at Cadmium's furry snout, as she felt his hand brush hers. In an automatic reaction she pulled her hand away, but then hesitated, hand suspended in air. After a second of staring into Cadmium's eyes, she carefully placed it on her lap. "Help? You? Me? What exactly can you do, besides turn heads of course...." Rashida found herself at a loss for words for a minute. Feeling like scum begging not to be scraped off of the fish tank, Rashida flashed another smile,
"I heard you were in need of a secretary. I happen to come with the highest recommendations." "So Miss~ you know my name, may I have the pleasure of knowing yours?" Rashida blinked, dismayed that she had neglected sharing her name. "Of course! Terribly sorry. I am Rashida Vang." Noticing his nervous twitching and more sensing the way his tail was curling beneath the table, the lithe girl leaned forward, brow slightly furrowed. "Is something the matter Mr. Ellubis?" She asked, her voice low and soothing. She glanced furtively about the open space, wondering what was upsetting him.

The fox Neebu's pupil slowly slid backward, as e noticed Rashida's gaze following his own. The innocent glances at fountains were replaced with a quick look at a tight shirt front, and a slow dive to something lower, what a thin, gangly girl. The figure of a model was offset by almost gorilla like arms, though a bit more reasonable in proportion. A flicker of an eyelid, and he turned back toward the tranquil fountain, his jaw stretching is half smiles, and strangled chuckles. It was almost as obvious he had been naughty as it was when a four year old denied eating cookies, with their hand stuck in the jar.
Cadmium liked her, to the point, and respectful of her elders. Ears slowly perked up, a wide grin devoured his muscle, as he turned on his political charm. "Darling, Cadmium please~ I don't allow friends....." Especially ones who could pull off mini-skirts without odd stares. "Call me Mister." The flattery caught his attention again, and he jumped all over the compliments like an anxious puppy. The straight-backed chair did a good job of disguising his frantically wagging tail. For being rather mature, if not conceited, Cadmium could turn downright childish when compliments, or pretty little girls were inserted.
The fox Neebu did his best to disguise his little pout as the girl pulled her hand away. It wasn't like he thinking about what that, pig, sitting on the fountain's rim was. That little scumbag was staring at Rashida like some sort of meal. No doubt his thoughts involved torn clothes, nasty little stains, and dry-cleaning.
That was unacceptable, especially when he was sitting right here. Rather than glaring at the male, he chose to ignore him, and leaned forward to better talk to Rashida. "I'm sure you do....." In all truth, he could do his own secretary works, even if it was beneath his grand ideals, but why not take a beautiful girl like this one off the street. " ....what sort of recommendations?" Cadmium was the type who would hire a terrorist, he never truly read what people wrote, but trusted his [often sex driven] instincts. "A very pretty name , what are the origins Ms. Veng?" Not that it really mattered, or that he was too interested. The pretty girl had complimented him, he could deal with assassins for that.
The tail slowly relaxed, its tip dragging lazy figure-eights on the floor.
"No ...no ...nothing's wrong dear, just a bit nervous is all.... a salesclerk upstairs isn't too happy with me." Jealousy, he blamed that. Especially when it came to his abysmal loss at the polls.

The slender girl ignored the Neebu's glances towards her bosom and the rest of her body. After all, he wouldn't stop if she did bring it to his attention. Why bother? His mouth twisted up into some twisted form of a smile, and he chuckled a vexatious way. Rashida rolled her eyes towards him, a warning glare briefly covering them, before being replaced with a smile. This happened so quickly, that it would almost make you think you hadn't seen a thing. Shida shifted in her chair, trying to ignore the jerk who continued to stare at her. She shifted again, glanced around the mall - trying to avoid eye contact with the creeper - and then focused her green eyes on Cadmium. At least she knew he had somewhat of a reputation to keep up.
The fox-neebu seemed to like Rashida - or rather, that's what she could glean from his body language. He also seemed to hold a bit of a grudge against the creeper that Rashida was doing her best to ignore. She didn't really blame the Neebu for disliking the pervert. Thoughts returned to Cadmium as he spoke, ears perking and grin widening, "Darling, Cadmium please~ I don't allow friends.....Call me Mister." Rashida briefly wondered what the Neebu was truly thinking. After all, it wasn't every day that the human girl waltz about in a mini-skirt. In fact, she tried to avoid it, for it made her already too-long legs look longer. Nice thing about it that it did make her butt look nicer. Rashida pulled her wandering mind back to the subject on hand.
"Certainly Cadmium." she lisped lightly.
At her flattering words the fox-Neebu's grin widened, and even the wired chairs could not hide his wagging tail from Rashida's sharp sight. That smile faded as Rashida pulled her slender hand away from his touch. His face turned into an unreadable look. If Rashida had to guess, she would say a pout. "I'm sure you do....." Cadmium said in response to Rashida's claim of recommendations. " ....what sort of recommendations?" Recommendations? He was actually interested in giving her a job? Now, what would hold his attention? "How about a low v-neck sweater?" Was that laying it on too thick? 'Naw.' Rashida decided. 'Cadmium is going to eat it up.' Reaching into the large shoulder bag that lay on the floor, propped up by the chair leg, Rashida pulled out a folder. She laid the folder on the table and pulled out a rather professional looking sheet of paper. Glancing over her resume quickly, she handed it to Cadmium. What would he think?
"A very pretty name , what are the origins Ms. Veng?" Rashida carefully smoothed away all signs of pique. Shida was sure he didn't mean to mispronounce her name. With another captivating smile, Rashida lightly replied, "I randomly choose it. Vang is not my birth surname." Hoping he wouldn't ask more about it, Rashida's gaze dropped to his tail. It was an excellent way to tell the Neebu's mood. Apparently he was getting bored. The only way to keep the fox's attention was to compliment him. Little stuck up Neebu wasn't he? "No ...no ...nothing's wrong dear, just a bit nervous is all.... a salesclerk upstairs isn't too happy with me." Leaning forward, Rashida purposely showed a bit too much cleavage. "And why would he be?" This was too easy.

The fox's mind buzzed with caution, his instincts were telling him to be suspicious, and that he was being played like some sort of human instrument. The Neebu ignored the tingling, and the warning, preferring to watch the young girl in front of him. It was rare for a lady, of her looks especially, not to be overly cautious when sitting down with him, jackets were buttoned, and hair pulled back. Those that didn't were attention-mongers, or one of his many eternal fans, many of those were male. Cadmium could not understand why they were so defensive, he never touched, without permission or that inappropriately, he detested rape, and sex in itself, why did people hate being admired like a piece of art. " I take it, Rashida works for you as well, Ms. Vang?" The fox fluttered his eyes in an appealing way, a warm smile slowly crawling up his muzzle. It was so nice when someone dropped all those fake formalities.
The fox began to chuckle at the comment, keeping a cautious eye on the creeper nearby. Laying on the honey, along with what he felt was a friendly voice he loudly proclaimed: 'That's part of the dress code.....you have quite a sense of humor dear~! Another excellent quality. " The paper without comment, the words quickly rearranged themselves into the hard-lines of hieroglyphs, as large orange eyes quickly scanned the page. The folder was crinkled, possessively under plate like paws, and the fox neebu made a variety of non-committal noises.
The fox continued reading, replying with a variety of distracted words. "I thought you said Veng, why would you choose such a plain name, since you could choose?" The next question was waved off, with an enigmatic answer, and a flurry of paw movements: "She." Without conscious action, he began to pick at his newly bought hat, had that little fireball of a clerk thrown some ink or something at him? Where were the cappuccinos when he needed them? Where were the numbers for references on this sheet of paper? Did it really matter if the girl had been a secretary, young as she was? How hard of a job was it, really?

As Cadmium's mind buzzed, the tall, slender girl's own mind raced. Rashida blinked innocently at Cadmium, wondering if she was laying it on too thick. She was. But, honestly, was there such a thing as too thick where Cadmium was concerned? Either way, it was important to not make the fox suspicious. "I take it, Rashida works for you as well, Ms. Vang?" After briefly thinking about it, Rashida gave a curt nod. Why not? Of course, in the workplace. Meh. Rashida wasn't sure what to tell him. After all, while they were working they should address each other properly. Mr. Ellubis was a professional. He would know.
Attention turned back to Cadmium just to see his eyes fluttering like a butterfly's wings. His lips slowly widened in a smile. Rashida was briefly reminded of a grinning hyena of the sort. Certain Cadmium would find that insulting, she shook it from her mind. 'Good thing he wasn't a Vishnu', Rashida reminded herself. As Cadmium chuckled, Rashida felt a smile tug at her own lips. She had been right. The whole v-neck sweater comment had worked. In a friendly voice, he replied, "That's part of the dress code.....you have quite a sense of humor dear~! Another excellent quality." Relieved to not find any perverse meaning in that comment, Rashida glanced over at the creeper. Why was he speaking so loudly? Was he trying to encourage him or discourage him?
She cleared her throat lightly before replying modestly,
"Thank you, Cadmium. I do try my best." Rashida glanced down at the very same paper Cadmium was studying. After the words rearranged themselves, Rashida's gaze looked up at Cadmium's face, trying to read his expression. Eyes flickered down at her folder's protesting noises. Paws crumpled the folder in a way that Rashida was unsure how to process. Gaze jumped up towards Cadmium's face as he made a couple of non-committal noises. Rashida attempted to hide her frustration. For being so easy to read most of the time, the fox-Neebu was making this practically impossible.
Finally, he spoke, still reading. "I thought you said Veng, why would you choose such a plain name, since you could choose?" Of course he had to ask. Rashida resisted the urge to roll her eyes. She seemed to get that urge a lot about the brightly dressed Neebu. Neutralizing her voice, she answered, "I enjoy the simplicity." Realizing she was probably boring him, Rashida tried to think of something to interest him. After a moment, she realized she didn't want to interest him in this topic. She'd rather talk about him.
Interestingly enough, her question about him was waved away with a simple "she." Sensing that he didn't want to talk about it, Rashida turned the conversation back towards the resume. Noticing he hadn't turned it over, Rashida commented, "Reference numbers are on the back." Rashida had not worked long in the work industry, but she had already managed to get several good recommendations. She nervously tapped her fingers on the table. Instantly wondering if that would bother Cadmium, Rashida pulled her slender fingers in, making a loose fist on the table top. Leaning forward again, she asked, "Well? What do you think?" Was she asking him too soon? Was she pressuring him too much? God, when was the last time Rashida was this nervous about a job opportunity. Let's not forget that this could very well be the best job the slender human had had - ever.

The downward swoop of her head may not have been the only up-down movement he had followed, but it was the one he replied to: "Thank you for being so compliant Rashida sweetheart." The very mention of work had caused his demeanor to shift slightly. The ham straightened in his chair, his snout rose slightly in a snobbish expression. The friendly, slightly lewd smile was replaced with a much more work appropriate one. That didn't stop his eyes from roving, or from his tail wagging about in a happy puppy fashion.
The man near the fountain continued to distract him, and the man seemed to be talking to someone on the phone. The idiot wouldn't dare attack them in the open, right? If he was that stupid, maybe drawing everyone's attention with some more loud words would be enough to send him packing: "Quite welcome Rashida dear, quite welcome. That's all that is required at my work, and an ability to type, and charm others." The man's earlier perverted glancing were even making Cadmium blush, and he tried his best not to look at Rashida's slim legs, or the slender feet that ended them. The breasts were even becoming dirty, it felt disgusting to be admiring her in a possibly similar way to that beast.
When she came close he had a few questions for her.
Sadly, he felt that bra-size was not appropriate for the situation.
"Simplicity? Really? Most people would go for the limelight, simple is a bit reclusive don't you think." Maybe he could find a tiny desk, in a corner, to shove the girl into. Surely the other, lobbying staff wouldn't mind, and helping to better the future school children was always a gain in the eyes of politicians, that and baby kissing. The latter he had done, even though he preferred to kiss things a little older.
The references seemed solid enough, though he wagered that the incoherent sentence near the bottom was more a translation error than an actual problem with her writing.
The rest of it seemed perfect, almost too perfect. "The back?" The Neebu turned the paper over with his usual flourish, scrutinizing then umbers, no sex lines to be found, before quickly snapping a picture with his headset. The fox had stopped reading a while ago, but now observed Rashida's temper through long lashes.
Nearby the creeper stared on, and seemed to be changing position.
No more games.
"It seems a bit like a set-up. It's so perfect I mean, I do believe we can find a place for you." Throughout the entire conversation he had been shifting position, allowing himself to be closer to Rashida.
In an urgent whisper he nodded toward the fountain [in essence the pervert] and hissed: "Is he your boyfriend? Relative? Or some sort of...........illegal stalker?" The Neebu leaned back, and let out a bark of laughter, trying his best to appear like a joke had been told.
Why were the pretty ones always appearing at bad times? Fate sure was a fickle creature, something he was proud not to be, he couldn't be turned with a roll of a dice.
