The sound of the shuttle docking awoke Jaden from his slumber. He looked around, temporarily having forgotten where he was, but then laughed as his arms came to his sides. He had enjoyed his nap from Earth to the satellite City known as Touchdown.
"So, I'm finally here. What a relief.." He muttered, standing from his seat. He lifted his bag from the seat next to him and slung it around his shoulder, looking at the crowd that was around him. So many different species, so many kinds of people. Jaden loved diversity. He found the genetic enhancements that most people had to be fascinating. Multicolored eyes? Check. Claws? Check. There was quite an abundance of that here, in Touchdown. Jaden himself wouldn't get a genetic enhancer, but he had no problem with others using them. Walking with the crowd that was departing from the ship, Jaden looked around at the sites to see. He could see floating casinos, shuttles, even a flying resort! Jaden couldn't help but grin like a child.
Putting the other strap of his backpack around his other shoulder, Jaden didn't know where to start first. He had come here searching for his sister, but she didn't even know he was here. He proceeded forward, towards a small boy, not older than nine or ten. He was attempting to sell maps of Touchdown, but it seemed like no one was paying attention to him. One rude alien bumped into him, knocking the maps out of his hands completely. Instead of apologizing, he simply yelled at him in some alien language. The boy looked like her was about to be in tears. Jaden walked over to the small boy and picked up one of the maps. The boy shot up instantly.
"Hey, mister, you gotta buy tha-" But he stopped mid-sentence as Jaden was handing him the map. The kid smiled and shrugged it off.
"Keep it, mister. You seem like a nice guy. You new to Touchdown?" He asked, putting the maps beneath his arm. Jaden nodded politely.
"Yup. I'm a new arrival here. What's there to do here?" He asked. The kid shrugged.
"Anything you wanna do, mister. If you like sports, we have a holo-ball arena. We have lots a casinos..." He began to name off all sorts of different activities there were to do in Touchdown. Jaden smiled at the kid. He reminded him of himself, in a way. He reached into his wallet and pulled out a piece of currency. "Here you go, kid. For the map." The kid took the money.
"Thanks mister! I'm Kade, By the way!" The kid gleamed.
"Jaden." He said, patting the kids head.
"If you need anything mister, just find me! I know this town like the back of my hand!" He almost yelled. He then turned and ran into the crowd, maps in hand.
"I'll keep that in mind!" He yelled over the crowd. He had a feeling he would do just fine in this city.
He walked over to a stall that was to his left. It had small little earpieces lying on the table, each looking like an ancient bluetooth headset. On the sign above, it read "Translator" in many different languages, most not even human.
"How much?" Jaden asked the alien. He let out a low grumble, then what sounded like a squeal. Jaden gulped. The alien then rolled it's eyes. It grabbed a translator from the table and handed it to Jaden, motioning him to put it in his ear. He did so, and the alien said "What are ya, stupid!? It's Fifty dollars, leave it or take it." Jaden pulled his wallet once more.
"How about Thirty?" He asked. The alien rolled his eyes, then took the card, scanned it, then gave it back. . Jaden put the wallet back in his pocket. He could now understand what everyone around him was saying. This made things alot easier. As he began to walk away, a man walked up to him. "You know, translators are supposed to be free buddy...You just got jipped.." And then walked away.Jaden turned around, back to the alien at the stall. He had already packed everything in a backpack and began to run. "Hey!" Jaden yelled.
Jaden began to sprint after the alien, hopping through the stall. He almost tripped as he did.
"Get back here!" He yelled, still pursuing the alien. He felt his adrenaline start to rush as the alien turned a corner. Jaden turned as well, only to be knocked on his butt. The alien stood there, a pipe in his hand. "Stupid human..." He muttered, as he began to search Jaden's pockets, looking for something valuable. He then noticed the ring on Jaden's finger, knowing it'd fetch a heft price. He took it from Jaden's finger, but as he reached back, Jaden's titanium arm shout forward, grabbing the alien's arm. He then pulled the alien down, onto the ground, and rolled over on top of him, beginning to pummel him with a barrage of punches.
After a few minutes, he grabbed his ring from the ground and slid it back onto his fingers, then took the alien's fund card.
"Let this be a lesson." He muttered as he walked away.
