Sieras just shrugged. " I don't really know how I got here. I'm pretty sure my parents aren't here though..." Of course not. Whatever had happened, it was obvious to her that time had gone on its merry little way while she was imprisoned in that block of ice. Her adoptive parents were probably buried in the earth on some small cemetery back on earth. She sighed. Well, so much for going back home. Se would need a new place to live, if she didn't want to beg on the streets.
Sieras nodded sadly. " I know. Even to each other. My teacher was always ranting about it in school, and he showed us videos of the Holocaust and some of the wars fought." She shuddered. "I couldn't sleep for a week after that."
"Yeah she was. She was my first friend in school. There I was in the lunch room, nobody would even look at me, and then she just got up and plunked her tray next to mine." Sieras chuckled at the memory of all the kids astonished gazes as Jessica struck up a conversation with her, and then berated those that looked like they were going to start picking on the two of them. "She made sure the bullies left me alone, and she even helped me with my school work. She was a very kind person."
Sieras shook her head. "Nevermind. He's gone now. Anyway, it wouldn't have been my father. I'm sorry for scaring you like that. "She smiled apologetically at the other girl.
Sieras once again went into the dimly lit pet store. The counter clerk gave her an irritated glance when she stepped up to him. "Excuse me. Where are the treetle pots? My friend forgot she needed one." The man glared and pointed to a sign above one of the aisles. It said clearly 'Plant-based pets.' "oh. Thank you." She trotted off down the corridor and looked for a small pot that would fit irguu. She found one that was a deep baked ceramic that seemed to be cored with a metal. She picked it up and it slipped out of her hands. She squeaked as it fell to the floor, expecting a loud crash on the tiled flooring. Instead, it simply landed with a dull thunk, and rolled to her feet. She bent down to pick it up with a sigh of relief. She took it to the counter guy, and swiped her card as he half filled it with a dark earth substance. He handed it back to her with a baleful gaze, and she gave a sweet thank you before returning outside.
"Back!" She stepped outside and held up the pot to Aubre. "Here's his pot. I hope it will work for you."

"....oh....why not try the net to look them up.........?" Aubre's initial reply had been a long, wide-eyed stare. The girl didn't know how she had gotten here, and had no idea what had happened to her parents? It was so ridiculous [if it was amnesia Sieras would probably be in a hospital], that it was almost believable. Aubre's eyes wrinkled with suspicion, even as she spoke quietly, and hesitantly. When she was done she continued to examine the odd girl in front of her, trying to connect the dots in a picture that made some sort of sense. No idea of where she was, where her parents were, ancient paper money spilled out from her pockets in rivers, and she was a very poor Neebu, where was her book port? Had she been frozen or somethign? What was she, an alien? " Do you know...how to use the nets...or....or......." Were there any parents at all? What was this little temptress trying to accomplish with her ignorant, and ridiculous story? Why was she being so nice? Why had she insisted on helping instead of going on her merry way?
Just why?
---
" ...I ....I wouldn't be able to either...." Of course, Aubre had a hard time sleeping when a dog barked on the television in the apartment next door. The girl was not one to watch war movies, it could be her parents having their arms amputated by crazy butcher like doctors, or being blown to bits by mud covered shrapnel. It could be them. The girl shook her head with a ferocious jerk of her neck, banishing the visions from her mind. That spot on the sidewalk was not a splatter of her father's Neebu blood, and that red berry on a nearby sign was not her mother's bloody scalp. "....it's not just humans...but war....nghh." What could she say that her mind hadn't already? Why would she tell the girl she had personal experience with war? Why would she tell anything to this suspicious rabbit who could remember her friend's stables, but not a long trip to the most famous satellite city in the galaxy's history? Aubre let out a deep breath, odd or not, she was still a little harmless thing. If worst came to worst, Aubre could manage to get away. Unless the darling thing was some sort of horrid experiment.
No needle marks on her arms, or glowing skin---negative on the experiment.
Was she talking again? The girl’s expression was somewhere between guilt, surprise, and a grimace. As she spoke: “ Oh..…that was very nice of her” Aubre couldn’t really remember an experience like that. No doubt the girl who had offered help to Sieras had gotten the short end of a dare, and ordered to chat it up with the hutch-sitter.
The hybrid smiled back, the expression fake and forced: “It’s okay…I wasn’t scared…..I just was…kidding…I was maybe just a bit …scared…” Aubre began to mutter again , her eyes occasionally trailed toward the corner where the suits had turned and disappeared with wagging shirt-tails. The fact that they were surely gone did not keep Aubre from waiting for one to beat her to a pulp, regardless of the reassurances of a girl she was beginning to think insane.
---
Aubre paused like a deer caught in the headlights as the door reopened, and a triumphant rabbit stepped out. The bag of food was slung over her back like a thief’s knapsack, and she was currently crouched down, staring at the furred beast in the doorway. “Thank you…how much did it cost?” The teenager did not reach for the pot, even though Irguu craned his head to look inside. Instead, she cautiously observed it for hidden mines, or death ridden switches.

"The net? I don't know. I never even thought about that..." She trailed off as she thought about trying to find whatever remained of her adoptive family, but it wouldn't have bared any fruit anyway. all she could do at their graves was to offer her condolences and regrets, and she couldn't tell any descendants about her. They wouldn't believe who she was. Especially when she didn't believe herself. She sighed as she came to the end of her thoughts. No. She might as well just forget about them. There was nothing she could really accomplish by that anyway.
"I can use it. They taught us in school and stuff, but I don't think I could accomplish much with it anyway."
Sieras shook her head. "You must be teased a lot, being as timid as your animal half. I wish I could help. It's so sad seeing a person as scared and easily frightened as you..."
Sieras looked down at Aubre, crouched on the ground. "What are you doing down there? Come on, get up." The akiari offered a hand to help pull the neebu girl up, and then she intercepted the looks gravitating to her recent purchase. "What this? I didn't really look. I think it was around 400 or so...at least, that's what the cashier said anyway. But it should help out better, it won't break easily, see?" Sieras let go of the pot, and it fell to the ground. Again, it merely thunked on the floor and rolled off, so the akiari picked it up again. "There. Now you won't have to buy a new one for a while yet. What do you think of that?" She held up the pot triumphantly, and then her ears dropped. "I guess you'll head off home now..." Though Aubre was timid like a mouse, she was somebody to talk to. Sieras already felt the loneliness creeping up on her.

Aubre did not taunt, or tease the girl for her ignorance. Nor did she boast about her own idea, instead she simply mumbled a few things to fill an awkward silence: "...it has a lot on it...though I kinda feel like it is an invasion of privacy." The teenager instantly bit her tongue, cheeks turning red. When had a search for a girl's, suspiciously, missing parents turn into a platform for her political ideals. " ..you could find them.. never mind that last bit the nets aren't bad." The Neebu hybrid was sure to backtrack herself, and even offer up praise to any Net workers who might be hiding behind nearby store fronts and roadside stands. " I'm sure you could...." Aubre murmured, no doubt the girl wanted her self-admonishment to be blasted to smithereens. The older female preferred doing that instead of risking possible annoyance on the part of Sieras.
Aubre instantly bristled. The words came out with a half-hearted anger, combined with a bit of paranoia and embarrassment: "I ...I ...am ..not! Well...I ...don't feel sorry for me." How had the girl known anyway? Her ears were nicely disguised, and unless her belt had ripped her tail was not jabbing at the air like a rubber sword.
The issue was, the reply was shouted at the closed pet-shop door, even as she raced to get away which ended in the next encounter between the two.
---
" ...I tripped..." Aubre protested quietly, raising at the kind order, her hand very gently grasping that of the younger "Neebu". The creature in her arm gently kicked against her chest, his sun yellow eyes seemed to grow when he saw the beautifully crafted pot. Stubby little legs reached out to wrap around its wide exterior, the gesture of adoration and ownership fell woefully short of its target. " Four. .Hundred!?" The words were a distressed squeak in the back of her throat, much like that of a strangled chipmunk. " ...break ...easily?" The girl's eyes grew large as she shot forward to retrieve the pot.
The Treetle let out a cry of mourning as it plummeted toward the ground, only to watch it bounce back up and gently thunk into his owner's nose. The girl watched it roll away with wide-eyed shock.
"Oh....that's why it was so expensive...I guess it's quite handy..." Aubre managed to gasp out , eyes fixated on the money slowly disappearing into the little pot. That shop owner had probably ripped the poor, silly girl off. "I think yo--" The ears dropped, and Aubre started.
What had she done? Why did she look so lost and lonely? " ...yes...I don't like being outside too lon--" The girl paused, she may not know people, but she knew a guilt trip when she saw one.
A girl who could afford to waste that much money on a pot, could also hire an assassin to take down the greedy bitch that wouldn't offer her shelter.
Already heading toward her apartment, Aubre paused and quietly asked: "Do you want to come.....?"
Hopefully the answer would be no, unless it was one of those guilty denials that really meant yes.
Those were the worst.
" ...we can order some.....pizza, and ..."
Do what? Watch for hit men and angry fathers? Her kind of night.

"Its not so much as a privacy intruder....but I know what you mean." Sieras nodded. She remembered what kind of stuff could be accessed by the internet, and how many people took that for granted, and how many took advantage of it. Identity theft was something her parents had tried to keep her aware of, so she watched what she wrote while online. "No, they're not that bad. But I don't think they'll be useful in this case." Sieras sighed. Oh well.
"You need to watch your step around here. Nasty stuff can get into scrapes, and bruises hurt a lot..." Sieras pulled aubre up, and watched as Irguu seemed to reach for her pot. "He seems to like it already..." She smiled at him as she saw him try and grip it with his legs.
"Yeah four hundred. Or something like that anyway. But it was well worth the money. It won't break easily."
Sieras looked up, and her ears perked up a little. "Really? You want me to come, but, but I don't think I should." Her ears dropped again. "You'll hate having me stay over, and I'll just be a burden on you. I don't know anything around here, and you do. And you don't like strange people, and I guess I'm nothing if not strange." She dropped her head. "But, I don't have anywhere to go. Not even a soggy box in an alleyway." She scratched the back of her head and looked up. "Would you really let me stay? Really?" Her ears popped up again, and she looked hopefully at the other girl. "Oh thank you!" Sieras launched herself and dropped what she had in her hands and gave Aubre a big, tight hug. "I promise to help out. Thank you, oh thank you..." Sieras wiped some tears away and stepped back. She picked up the pot and her stuffed cat, and turned again to the Neebu girl. "Lead the way then, please."

The girl realized how foolish she was sounding once again, the men and white would be approaching soon. In an attempt to soothe any impression of paranoia, or any urge for a debate Aubre quietly murmured: " ...I...yes...they're not that bad I guess. Especially when the satellite-observation protectorate laws were enacted." By the time she had spoke the other had moved on, simply stating that the nets were of no use anyway. "Oh....." Aubre pondered for a moment, staring at the smaller "Neebu", her lips pursed slightly. Why were the nets useless? What exactly were her parents, some sort of illegal aliens? Was she frightened of someone finding out she was alive, was she some sort of assassination target?
A sturdy kick from her trusty pet brought her back to earth. The images of booby-trapped suitcases and self-destructing tapes faded into a simple pot and twitching whiskers. --------
It took Aubre a moment to realize that her very poor fib had been swallowed, and her eyes were wide with disbelief as she quietly mumbled: "Yah.....I shouldn't have been so careless." The cautioning words were not taken with relief that the girl had taken the lie. Instead they allowed her to think of ancient diseases like Leprosy, and the bubonic plague that commonly haunted this planet. " ...uh-huh..." The girl's words were distracted, and instead of thinking about Irguu she was pondering about the odd freckle on her arm, and the fact that it itched like hell.
The Treetle saved the day, once again, when he rocketed forward, and dove into the pot with a metallic clang. " NO NO! wait a minute! That's ...expensive.....you... I ...I can't afford that....really...feel free to take it back..I can buy my own. I don't want to owe you anything" Inside the contours of the large container the odd creature let out an irritated hiss, yellow eyes narrowing in the shadows of the vase.
The teenager could almost hear his thoughts: Don't you dare! No looking gift horses in the mouth missy! --
Aubre glanced from the pot back to the girl, and then down both sides of the street. Why had she offered? What kind of trouble would this cause? Did she even have anywhere the girl could sleep, or would the little sweetheart bat her eyelashes and kick her onto the floor like some mutt? "You're not that...strange. Why would I have offered if I didn't want you to come?" The teenager asked with a forced smile, the odd turtle already picked out of the pot, and cradled in her arm. ". ..it might help pay you back for the pot..." Which was just one giant waste of money, and a call for debt-collectors to come and visit.
The little figure looked so dejected standing there, her silky ears fluttering in the ground like flags of surrender. Her brown eyes were coated with tears, what else could she say? "Yes...really..." Aubre flung her arms [[and Irguu]] over her head when the rabbit leaped into action.
Why was she being attacked?
When two furry little arms wrapped around her waist she blinked in surprise, and for just a moment really smiled.
A hug? How long had it been since she had one of those? "You're welcome...." Aubre replied automatically, stepping away from the other girl, before lowering her raised arms into a less defensive posture, her cheeks burnt the color of rouge.
With a hesitant nod she began to walk toward home, pausing every few seconds to observe her surroundings. "It's not much compared to what you're used to...I can clean it before you come in.. I never get visitors...I know it's bad...sorry..." The house was still a while away, and every few seconds she would come up with an apology for her apartment's state, which in reality was not dirty, but snug and rather bare.

"Take it. Besides, I bought it, and I say what happens to it." The akiari gave a stern gaze to her newfound friend and wagged a finger. "It wasn't too expensive, and your pet needs it. Do you want to have him out of his pot for longer then he needs to be?" Her gaze softened, and she fell into giggling again as her once wagging finger became an arrow to the Treetle. "Look at him! He likes it already. And he's not going to leave, from the looks of it." she looked again at Aubre.
"I don't know. You could be saying that because you feel guilty..." The bunny ears stayed plastered to the back of her head, and her eyes pulled out the most sad and loneliest expression as she thought about being away from anybody. She had gone camping once, with Jessica. It was a simple summer camp, yet at one point Sieras had gotten lost. She remembered the darkness that crept around her, and the noises that surrounded her. It was something that frightened her so much, she had almost fainted there, curled up in the bracken of the forest. Sleeping alone, no house, no family, would probably be something like that. Curled up in an alleyway or doorstep, cold and scared.
But she remembered what else had happened. Jessica had come through the shadows under the trees, with a flashlight. Her friend had lead her pack to camp and bought her something really nice from canteen before they headed to their cabin. Maybe, Aubre was a more timid Jessica. Cutting through the fear of loneliness with the offer of a place to say, and someone to stay there with like Jessica had with her flashlight. "Yeah. It could pay for the pot, so I won't have to worry about you struggling in 'debt'." She laughed as she said it, glad that she had already found a nice person; even though she didn't seem like it.
Sieras followed Aubre down through the cities, listening to the girl stammer out excuses for the apartment's state. She tittered as she listened to the other girl. "I'm sure its fine. I'll clean it up for you if you want." She gave a completely innocent smile at her new benefactor as she followed in the nervous girl's footsteps. "I'm good at cleaning. I can make it fit for royalty in no time!"

Wasn't that what people said about hookers, slaves, and debtors as well? It was just a pot though, surely the girl couldn't make her do anything horrid by using it as blackmail. It wasn't like it contained the world's horrors. The girl bit back an apology, managing to agree with a slight nod. "....I......yes...I guess you do." Aubre murmured quietly underneath the girl's "admonishment". The dancing finger reminded her of her mother, and almost brought her to giggles herself. "... I wouldn't want to be homeless because my owner didn't like her legs...........feeling like a charity case." Cheeks burned pink at the reference to the territorial little creature, and even went so far to shoot him a glare. When the Treetle turned away though she apologized under her breath, being mindful of the other Neebu banning such words.
"What do I have to feel guilty for, letting you come with me?" It was not if she asked to knock into a rich little orphan, have a pot shoved down her throats, and possibly be blackmailed into some future dubious deed. None of it was her fault, and no matter what any jury claimed, she had been manipulated into all of it by a pair of sorrow-filled eyes. Even through all these negative thoughts, the teenage girl felt her heart lift with her own charitable offer. Maybe she was on her way to making a friend, or even an enemy. But, at least the Treetle couldn't make fun of her for being a hermit any more.
Not that he talked to her, or that she held fake conversations with a sentient, albeit beautiful, weed.
Was that what the ringing in her ears was? The sound of insanity? Maybe none of this was real.
Beneath the fabric two fingers tightly grasped her pale freckled skin. Pain instantly shot up her arm, it appeared she was not dreaming, and the girl had accepted her offer. " I almost feel like I am ripping you off, but you can have the bed too..." Hopefully a full-belly, and a rather comfortable sleep would repay the girl for the pot.
Even as Aubre walked down the street she knew this would probably end up more than a night. Unless angel's decided to trumpet the girl away into protective services, Aubre doubted she could turn her away.
Guilt may not have been felt over inviting the girl in, but it would sure as hell prevent her from making the lucky little hare leave.
God willing, the child was clean and didn't have wild parties.
------------------------
"N-n-o! It's paying you back for the pot....it's not.......that dirty." Royalty? Why did it need to be fit for royalty for this girl to come in? Was she that picky? Was she some sort of lady-in-waiting or some such nonsense? What was she getting herself into. "...I can clean it up before you come in, what do you want on the pizza?" The buildings gradually changed from metallic and straight to ancient. Gargoyle's now loomed from rooftops, and bricks leered down like so many red eyes.
The girl held up a hand and indicated that the other Neebu was to wait.
With a burst of speed Aubre turned into a nearby alley, pausing to look at an overturned garbage can and calling quietly: "All clear.........." Unless those beady little eyes weren't mice, but a pack of rabid terriers. No yelps emanated from the source of the glow, they instead blinked and disappeared into the shadows.

The little girl nodded, to finish the discussion. "Okay then. That's settled. You'll take the pot, and Irguu will enjoy it; and you will say nothing more about accepting it from me." She put her finger up and held her little toy close to her hip.
"I don't know. You seem to feel guilty a lot." Sieras absentmindedly took a stray hair and twirled it through her hands, as she tried to think. Then she shrugged; as she herself would've made that offer without hesitation, like Aubre almost had.
"I didn't think it was that dirty, silly. Its just the way you went on about the state of it, it made me wonder..." Sieras closed her eyes and giggled. She thought about having a home again. It wouldn't be as grand as the house she had shared with her adoptive parents, but it might be better than the cabin she had shared with Jessica, and definitely better than a cardboard box. She knew she was lucky, and then drifted back to the auction house; how the people thought of her. They had believed her an unknown alien species, and they could very well have been right. Not even she knew what she was, or where she came from. She might reveal herself to Aubre, the other girl might know. Sieras actually entertained that thought for a while, then dismissed it. Judging by her initial encounter, Aubre would probably freak out and the little Akiari didn't want to stress out her friend. So, she would stay in the suit until she found out something more about herself.
Sieras watched curiously, her nose and ears twitching, as she watched Aubre investigate the alleyway and gave the all clear. Cautiously, the little Akiari stepped into the alleyway and looked around. "What was that all about?

Aubre's next statement was made more ludicrous by the downturn of her head, and the fact that she was half kneeling to look into the little Akiari's puppy-like brown eyes. Freckled hands were crossed in front of her pelvis, hands clasped in an almost guilty expression. "Yes'm. No more mentioning of debt maam." Most people would have followed that up with a smile, or been shivering attempting to hold the laughter in while they said it. Aubre's voice on the other hand was completely solemn, her eyes trailed slowly from side to side, watching invisible specters her mind conjured. Just underneath her pursed lips, and serious expression some part of her was tempted to chuckle.
The girl was friendly enough, and had just freed Aubre from any legal obligations to pay her back. What was the worst that could happe-- nevermind. That question was taboo, that path was only fret with misery, and she had a feeling asking it would bring down the god of bad fortunes.
--
The turtle creature almost wanted to pump a dirt-covered paw in the air. The little girl above was a champion of the little guys, not to mention a moneybags. Well, that’s what he would have thought, if he was sentient.
But, of course he wasn't.
-----
The hair's slow caging reminded her of her own feelings. That poor head trimming wasn't the only thing being wrapped around this girl's pink little claws. " .... better than someone being mad at you. What does apologizing hurt? Even if you didn' do anything wrong, it will hopefully stay their hand if you do so later....." Aubre had never explained her odd habit of always acting in the wrong to anyone before. Her father had laid it to some sort of childhood quirk, and she had been too shy of her sometimes hotheaded mom to do so. No doubt she would have sent the poor little hybrid to military school or turned her into a killer android. Or strangled someone, her mom did adore her little girl.
The pair moved on, and Aubre cast a final glance at the bright blue sky before allowing herself to smile. -----
"Wonder....?" The girl despised un-ended sentences, to her they held as dark a possibility as a screamed death threat. The teenager now tilted her head, and allowed herself to fall back to an even position with the little suited rabbit. "What's so funny, with what you pulled out of your pocket.... I doubt your last house was so tiny...or that it had any dust." Turning away from the Akiari , Aubre allowed herself to blush. It was so embarrassing inviting someone who used to live like royalty into her home.
Not to mention the little thing had volunteered to be Cinderella, that made it even worse.
---------
When the Akiari stepped a plate-sized foot into the alley, Aubre was leaning her back against the sun warmed red brick of the building nearby. Oddly enough, she seemed not to be worried about germs, but staring at a patch of shadows with trepidation. Sieras spoke, and her head snapped up in a blur. "I -- I ...was making sure there was no one in the alley.....there sometimes is.. I thought I heard something." Wait a minute, what the fuck had she been thinking!? What had made her dive into such a dirty place with no protection when someone else was there to do it? Just how much did she already care about the snow-white little bunny?
..too much.
The next words she spoke were almost angry, and obviously cold. No longer was she fighting a smile.
Pausing at the next intersection she waited for the younger creature to catch up, even while confused and angry she found it difficult to be rude.

Sieras sighed. "Apologizing doesn't hurt anything, no. Unless your sorry's come so profusely that the object of your apologies grows tired of the word." Sieras rolled her eyes and then landed them back in her friend's direction. "You can apologize, just not too much." She continued following the more timid girl, hugging her only link to the past in one hand, as she watched her new friend with gold eyes. Her eyes weren't always on aubre, however. She kept looking around the street, fascinated at all the things that were new to her eyes.
Sieras leaned forward and gave her new room mate a coy look. "Yeah. Made me wonder if you're hiding something in your room that you don't want me to see." The little akiari laughed, to show that she was joking, and resumed her normal walking posture. "Well, anyway. I don't mind how dirty your apartment might be. Messes can be cleaned. Anyway; I don't think its all as messy as you make it out to be."
Sieras ducked her head. "Well. I didn't exactly live in a mansion, and my mom had a housekeeper..."Sieras thought about it. "But I don't live there anymore, and I'm sure your apartment's perfectly nice."She assured Aubre. She really didn't want to hurt her feelings, and talking about a large house with a maid and holding it over this girl with a single-person apartment and no cleaners was mean. And Sieras didn't like to be mean. It went against her nature.
"Oh, okay. Be careful though, my dad told me that cities can be really dangerous places to be." Sieras shrugged, and resumed following Aubre. She never really saw anything to be scared of on her trips downtown; but then the schools always took secure roads and stayed away from the seedier regions of the city.

[size=1 Aubre was tempted to snap a salute, but settled for a slightly perplexed smile. It appeared she was allowed to apologize now , but why had permission been given at this exact moment? Did her apologizing annoy Sieras therefore requiring an apology? Had she been making obscene hand gestures without her knowledge, like some sort of mute turrets sufferer? Why else would she give permission, or had she been trying to make her feel more comfortable? Why was this girl confusing? When in doubt, say you're sorry. "Okay, sorry if I apologized too much, or annoyed you." Large green eyes trailed down to the tattered stuffed animals, dead glass eyes met her own as her nail-bitten fingertips gently probed the ratty hem of her own hoody.
Reflex, they were nothing alike, helping her was just wise, and the right thing to do for the karma gods.
"You act like you've never seen a hover board before Sieras, those things are dangerous...." As was everything else that had a motor, magnetic board, or particle disruptor. To be honest, she preferred walking by foot, as long as none of those vehicles were following behind. ------------
At the accusation Aubre's face flashed hot pink, and she began to murmur random things. "No, hid--ding? Me? Na-uh ..I ...what could I possibly be hiding? " The walking stopped as the paranoid girl stopped dead in her tracks, eyes flitting around as if they would find some hidden blackmail behind the full garbage cans. When the girl laughed, even if it sounded slightly sinister, the Neebu hybrid let her lips turn upward: "A jok-ke...I knew that." The smile remained frozen in place as the walking continued. In a quiet voice she called out: "How dirty do I make it sound?" What message was she giving to this girl? Was she only succeeding in making herself look bad when trying to give warnings? "Housekeeper?" Like a living, breathing, person? Not one of those pinafore shaped bots with feather-duster arms that flitted around from room to room? Did this girl have money pouring out of her long velvet ears? "......that's your choice." No need to contradict anyone, and start arguments.
-----------
Did she really need to be reminded? Aubre now moved to glaring at ever shadow, where danger seemed to wallow there just like fetid garbage. It was spelled out in ever flicker of light, and each rusting awning. "...I know...stay close...." Why was she saying such self-sacrificing things? What would she do if someone attacked, drop to her knees and scream apologies like some mantra? Probably.
Turning occasionally to make sure her meager wallet, Treetle, and new roommate were present, Aubre looked out for thieves. A building leapt in front of her, and her eyes swept up its familiar sides. In a breathy voice, walking so much was hard work, she said: " ...home....sweet.....home." A narrow little alley curved around the side of her apartment building, beckoning to Sieras she ran through this alley.
Next were the stairs, the door knob seemed to burn beneath her nervous fingers. A deep growl from Irguu prompted her to turn the knob, hold the door open, and allow Sieras inside.
" ....sorry for the mess...." Which was really nothing but the broken flower pot of earlier. In the tiny apartment there was not much else to be made a mess of.

The little akiari took the apology of apologies in good grace. "Please don't mention it. You'd be a perfectly nice friend to be with, if only you'd relax a little bit." She smiled at the neebu girl. "And I hope that's what it will end up to be."
Sieras' golden eyes assessed the vehicle as she walked. "A hover-board? I didn't know they had such things. Sure it looks dangerous..." The rabbit neebu turned to Aubre and gave a small chuckle. "Of course a lot of things probably look dangerous to you." She smiled, showing that she didn't mean for it to be bad-humored and continued. "Probably no worse than a snowboard or surfboard."
Sieras shrugged. "Well, you kept just apologizing for the state of it, you make it sound like you have piles of trash and old clothes all over the place; and dirt at least a foot thick." She shook her head. "I just don't think its really like that."
"Yeah we had a housekeeper. She was an old lady, but she knew what she was doing." The little girl made a face. "I never liked her though. She was too strict." And she was too. Always chiding on Sieras for the smallest smudges and behaving as if she was a demon child.... She was hell to be with; and the little akiari was relieved when the woman finally retired and let a younger, more friendlier maid take over.
Sieras waited patiently as Aubre opened the door to offer a view inside. When she apologized for the mess (Only Irguu's old pot and some scattered dirt) the akiari almost laughed. Instead, she smiled generously as she stepped inside. "It's not a big mess, Aubre. Really it's not. It can be easily taken care of." Cautiously, and curiously, Sieras walked through the apartment. She was observing how her new benefactor lived.
She had just put her plush toy down when the fact that she was in a small area with four walls and a roof caught up with her. She grabbed up her little kitty and huddled in the middle of the room as her claustrophobia caught her full tilt. She shivered and looked around.
"You don't happen to have a small outside veranda do you?" She asked quietly.

Aubre turned crimson. Was she being ordered around, or was that a suggestion? Would she become an enemy of this rich little furball if she remained so stiff? In an almost parrot-like manner she repeated the girl's words, her voice catching in an almost questioning manner: "Re-lax?" Was it that obvious, that she was nervous? Finger stopped picking, her hands visibly shaking when she did so, and her taut back slowly slouched forward. Only when "relaxed", did she allow herself to remember the word "friend". "Friend?" Aubre seemed to be able to speak with only one word at a time. How long had it been since she had one of those? A friend? " I would ...like ... that." People didn't hire hits on friends right? Besides, except for the worries about sanitation and crowding, the teenager had always wanted a sleep over.
The whole "relaxing" thing soon became uncomfortable, and Aubre resumed her normal walk.
----------
"They've been out for well on twenty years, did your parents hide you....under a rock?" The girl finished with a gulp, green eyes blinking slowly. Sieras had just lost her mother and father, and here she was calling them strict and cruel. Teeth met tongue, and nibbled uncertainly, and Aubre turned back toward the hoverboard. " ..maybe you just didn't know what they were called, some people call them 0g's." Orange hair shadowing her eyes she allowed herself to wallow in self-pity with a hint of guilt. " I didn't mean that they were mean, or you naive. Maybe they were trying to keep you safe?" Unless this child was not a child at all. What child had not seen their friends riding about on those things? " ...um..." The teenager tried not to take offense at the honesty. " No, except when they decide surfing cars is a good idea..." What was a skateboard? That was something that needed to be looked up, was this little rabbit really a little old lady? How creepy would that be?
A smile appeared, that was nothing like what she had been thinking. " It's just a little dusty, and I never cleaned the flowerpot that fell over..and shattered." Seeing as she had been too busy crying and screaming to do so. How was she supposed to know she would be bringing in a stray? Why did she have to clean that mess up the second it happened? "Be careful not to step on the shards..." Not that there were any, besides one the size of a dinner plate. " Oh...sorry." Maids were always portrayed as beautiful women in all the shoes Aubre had ever seen, that or the devil. What an odd idea, an old maid, like the card game.
----------------------------------
"Okay, I'll..take care of it..." With little ceremony she deposited the new, more durable pot, next to the old one, being careful to observe the broken pottery nearby. It seemed to be to make sure it would not jump her when her back was turned.
The little creature inside the pot purred, and the young hybrid began scooping dark manure dirt into one side of the shallow pot. The hood was currently down, mouse ears perked at Sieras' question and the teenager turned toward her with an open mouth.
Was she okay? She looked a little worried. " ...yes....it's a fire escape really, but its right behind the couch, behind the door..." After staring for another moment she inquired: ' ..Why? You feeling ill?" Did her apartment smell bad?

Sieras beamed at the neebu girl. " Yes, relax. I hear tension's not good on the body. My parents were always ever going to a massage parlor or a chiropractors. They always seemed the better for it; they kept telling me that business was always stressful." They did too. Always when they came back, they did something really nice for her. She wondered what it was about those places that just lightened her parents' mood.
"I would like that too. I don't have a single friend here, except you of course." Sieras sighed. Well, this was certainly going to be an interesting time. She wondered how she would live though. She didn't know if she should get a job, or try and go back to school. She wished she knew what to do.
"0gs? What an odd name. But I'm sure I've never heard of it before..." She looked at the thing again, and at the laughing human boy zooming above ground; friends running after him. She did watch some sci-fi movies back home, and hover-boards weren't entirely foreign to her, but she never saw one like that. She was definitely in the future. The only question was; how far did she go?
Sieras nodded at Aubre's statement. "Yes. They always babied me. The looked out for me quite a bit; but it was stifling sometimes."
The little akiari quirked her head. "Surfing cars? What a bizarre notion. Why ever would the do a thing like that? I mean, i've heard of cars that turned into boats, but still..." the little girl realized that humans really were strange creatures, with all of their inventions and habits. What would have happened, had she not found herself on that island so long ago? She hadn't the faintest. But maybe she would have ended up here anyway. Or not, depending on what the rest of her species would do; and whether or not there were any of her species. She had no way of telling.
At the sight of the sky outside; sieras rushed to it and opened the window. She sighed, and slumped as if all the energy was taken out of her. She looked at Aubre and smile apologetically. "I'm sorry. I forgot that I don't like closed spaces. Don't worry about it though...I'm sure I can manage."
